Funny, I am in the middle of trying to pay my home improvement loan with a bank. Last month I paid it no problem. This month it seems I cannot pay it with my account at another bank where I do my primary banking. Unless I have an account with the bank I cannot pay the loan automatically. hmmmm, I am not happy. Now I am on hold waiting for a 'real' person. Who probably won't be able to understand my American Engrish very well.
The trouble with automation is that eventually they won't even need people. and I think that might be the goal.

Not so. They'll need people to fix the automation system.

so after being on hold for more than 2seconds. Someone answered the phone. But his computer was not working so he had to put me on hold while he got someone else who could help me.
In the meantime I went to the site which didn't work very well. No I don't know my password. No I don't know my ID. I do know my email yes. ok, HEre is your ID. (I didn't enter anything besides my email which everyone knows) hmmm, Then no I don't know my password. Ok here reset it. (I didn't enter anything besides my zip code) Reset my password. logged in and paid my bill. But?????/ Not secure. not even remotely. no email confirmation nothing. I am not wondering where in Africa my payment just went.

Luckily, with a massive stroke of uber-Karma, you will be able to send your on bot-caller on these errands and it can joust with their bot-answerer.

Don't know if it will still work but when my frustration level rose, I hit the # multiple times quickly until it confused the phone and sent me to a (alleged) person.

I am trying to close down messages sent to my father's email account as he died from CV in April. [I intend to keep it open until after Christmas in case people who haven't heard about his death send Christmas greeting messages and I can then update them]
I still haven't succeeded in unsubscribing him from getting junk email from Argos
* No 'unsubscribe' link on the emails
* No 'how to unsubscribe' on the web site
* 'Contact us' refers you to a robot on FaceBook Messenger!
* The robot has a standard 'I'm sorry, I don't understand the question' response and says an agent will get back to me
* Some days later, an agent (still on Messenger) asks what the problem is (it is as stated in the message that the robot could not understand)
* Response is to send a copy of the Death Certificate to another email address. Really? A Death Certificate just to unsubscribe?
I don't know if this is the end of the saga or whether they have even more hoops to jump through
Another company did have an 'unsubscribe' on their web page but they are still sending junk emails.

Is there anywhere on TV where you can watch the news, without it being:
- patronising
- repetitive
- negative
- more interested in their own pet subjects/message
- more opinionated than factual
- only interested in stirring up a sh*t storm
- only interested in trying to catch out the interviewees - even if it means going completely off topic
You would hope that our publicly funded broadcaster, the BBC, might manage it. But nope! They tick all of the above boxes. I switched over to ITV this morning and, I (am ashamed to admit) actually found Piers Morgan more reasonable and palatable than the BBC. I don't think I've been brain-washed overnight into suddenly liking one of the most hated men on TV. More likely is that everyone else has descended to his level - but, as he's had more practice at that level, he's a lot better at it.

I don't know how it is on your side of the pond, but in the states, 90% of the media (watch, listen, read) is controlled by just six companies. Therefore, you only get what they want you to get, or you can just ignore them all and form your own opinion.

Your internet searches are driven by google, the advertisement you get is driven by google, the products you buy online are pre-chosen by amazon, etc... All your life choices are premade by about 4 or 5 companies in the world - Why should it be any different for your news ?

Depressingly, you guys have confirmed my worst fears: There's no such thing as proper news on TV. 
I also forgot to mention: reporters, (now usually called "correspondents" or "editors"), standing outside 10 Downing Street/The Whitehouse/a hospital/an airport or on a motorway bridge, for absolutely no good reason! 
Oh, and the 'Breaking News' banner telling us about something that happened yesterday! Ignore the 'Breaking' bit, some of it doesn't even qualify as 'News'!

Their mission has nothing to do with the news. It has to do with keeping you tuned so as to watch the commercials. Note the highly trained meteorologists.
Don't bother with all that. Just ask Siri.
If you can keep your head while those about you are losing theirs, perhaps you don't understand the situation.

I mostly watch CNN for news and switch to Fox (fair and balanced) occasionally for entertainment/laughs.

on TV nope. Unfortunately they always interject there own opinion. Thru facial expressions if nothing else.
I have been trying to stay with the written word lately and researching how actual factual the organization is before going to their site. In the US only one so far is apnews but slightly left leaning. perhaps wallstreet journal though they do lean slightly right. but only those so far.

All news sources are biased one way or the other, especially if they have editorials.
Vary your news sources, locally, national and international.
There are sources like the AP or Reuter that are less biased.
I'd rather be phishing!
