Because they steam up?
Tiny drop of washing up liquid, rub it over both sides of both lenses, and then buff it off. It leaves an invisible layer of detergent which lowers the surface tension of the breath droplets so they form an even layer over the whole surface instead of microdrops which "fog" them up. Lasts about two weeks.
Try it: after buffing breathe heavily on them and see what happens.

Not to keep you trying everything in sight, but rub on a tiny bit of bar-soap and spread it thin. I've done that for bathroom mirrors (in cooler weather) to keep them from fogging due to showers.
Not all detergents (as in the liquid stuff) are the same and few of them have actual soap in them as it's unnecessary for their intended (grease disrupting) purpose.

Fortunately, I only wear glasses driving and they stay in the car.

They're a pest for sure, and they certainly are no silver bullet.
But they make a big enough difference to make sense.
And besides, it's rude towards others not wearing one indoors in public areas.

That makes two of us, I'm also lucky enough to have an employer that supports working from home during this epidemic.

Same situation, and I'm loving it - no more 3 1/2 hours commute each day, yay! My productivity is sky high.

I do too, but having flexible hours means that I am not constrained to a particular rhytm and it's great. Also, procastrinating while at office is limited, at home it is not: I can easily sleep an hour in bed and return fresh and motrivated, or play an entire morning a videogame that's catching me and work all afternoon with a great stride. And when I have something to do (groceries, fixing stuff, laundry...) I can do it when I feel like it - one day I tidied the entire house in the morning and rebuilt the network in the afternoon, I never have that much energy when I come home at night or during thne weekends.

Oh man... I can reeeeeaaaalllllyyyy relate with that...
Coming home from work and having their "papa, papa" was a counter medicine for the day.
Having them the whole day "papa, papa" when I am trying to work... it's driving me nuts.

I can absolutely see the day when things go back to "normal", and there's still going to be this small group of SJWs insisting that you're a murderer if you're not wearing them.
