Ah, you use C++ ... it can be changed.
Open VS, and go to "Tools ... Options"
Open the "C/C++" branch, and select "Advanced".
Scroll to the bottom of the list, and you'll find "Text Editor"
Under that are two options "Enable Surround with Braces" and "Enable Surround with Parentheses" - set then to "False" and it'll stop doing it.
False is the default for these, so either the config file got messed up, or somebody specifically enabled them on your machine ...

I'm using Resharper for both C++/CLI and C# development. It does have a few annoyances but primarily it's a big help to me, especially with C++/CLI.
The difficult we do right away...
...the impossible takes slightly longer.

Agreed. I hate the performance tax it inflicts, but gladly pay it for the extra help it offers.

I use VisualAssistX and this is one of my favourite functions, so useful I actually forgot it's not standard and I end up swearing a lot when I change IDE (i.e. for firmware development).

I was idle at home. Some people researched eating, some researched rest, but I was bored to research and set up the computer. The previous computer was E3 1230v3+1060. It has been used for three to five years, and only the graphics card was updated during the period. To be honest, one is that there is no intention to replace it, and the other is that there is really no ability to install it. In the past 2020. My computer configuration has been constantly changed. The CPU was changed from 3700X to 3600 to the current ZEN3 5900X due to the influence of others, and the graphics card was changed from Sapphire 5700XT to Colorful 2070s Vulcan and finally changed to the current Colorful 3090ADOC. During this period, I experienced too much and consumed a lot of time and money. In the past 2020, I have gradually gained my own understanding of the installation, and now I will share my current configuration with his family.

Originally, I wanted to make a matte set, but I might still be vain in my heart. I always feel that u12a is bare and not very beautiful~ So later I bought a few soft light strips from the wind chaser, and decorated them on the upper part of the chassis and At the bottom, it doesn't look so monotonous. Some people may not like it, but as far as I am concerned, I currently feel that this configuration is fully in line with my psychological expectations. [DELETED]

If I had known how overpowered my Ryzen 7 was going to be I probably would have settled for a lesser model. I've never tapped this one out. Video card is only a 1060 - I'm not much of a gamer outside the fallout series and occasionally mad max when i need to vent.

Yep, when I built mine a couple years back my two sons had already built theirs and suggested that the Ryzen 5 was probably enough. I went with the Ryzen 5 2600x[^] and it's been going strong since.

I got a smokin deal on my PC anyway. In january i paid $1400 USD with tax and shipping. 32GB ram, 512GB NVMe and 3 TB HDD ( a decent one too), Ryzen 7 4750? - nice lit easy to clean keyboard with a heavy base and a mouse with switchable DPI. The whole machine is a monster.

I cannot read data from an SPI device using an ESP32. I've never once successfully accomplished it.
There are no examples in the ESP-IDF.
There is no example code for reading from any peripheral device I own that I can find online.
I know if I ask a question here or stack overflow it will go to the bit bucket - particularly here, but stack overflow I'll probably get flamed first.
I posted at reddit /r/esp32 because there is an Espressif staffer/coder who mods that subreddit, but so far nothing - even tagged the guy.
Am I the only one that has ever tried to do this? Has literally nobody else wired a MISO line to an ESP32 and then read data off it?
This is maybe the worst part of coding - when I'm swimming out past the markers into deep water and there's nobody left to take direction from.

I worked with VB6 until late 2018, I had to do all kinds of oddball stuff with it. Same issue, no answers from no-one.
Then I moved in automotive, good luck asking questions about AutoSAR internals - you gotta pay big bucks to a V***tor consultant for that.
10 years of experience and only rarely I worked on things where there were any issue already solved by someone else.

We also didn't have internet connection, we had MSDN only. We managed to have StackOverflow and CP opened up because MSDN points here.
Fun times.

Over the weekend I was working on building a device I've wanted for a long time (see snapshot)[^]: time / temperature data collector. Mine is Arduino-based (Nano).
First I connected an LCD using I2C.
Next I connected my RTC (realtime clock) module using I2C again.
Finally, I added the SD Card reader/writer module using....tada...SPI (mosi, miso, cs (aka ss) and sck (serial clock)).
Here's my point. Look for an example using ESP32 and sd card module and see if someone has worked this out -- it probably uses SPI.

The problem with that is the esp-idf has a layer already for SD over SPI so you never touch the SPI directly.

I thought maybe you were going lower level. I like to be up here on this level where I don't know about the little things going on.

I would like to be higher level. Unfortunately I am trying to interface with an RA8875 without using the Arduino framework. That means rolling my own graphics driver for it.
