Well it sounded like an intriguing idea right up until "blockchain" at which point I facepalmed hard enough I'm probably concussed. Setting aside legal issues with non-deletability (*cough*GDPR*cough*RTBF*cough*) of personal data - and who you associate with is highly personal and thus would qualify in any sane world - having an undeletable or even unobfuscatable record of who you associated with in the past would cause all kinds of problems with how social media is actually used in the real world.

Remember that person you used to be friends with years ago that went crazy/toxic to the point that you cut all contact with them will be burned into an undeletable record in a database that needs to be publicly accessible to work providing easily available ammo to anyone who wants to vilify you in a witch hunt because obviously you'd never have associated yourself with the toxic nutjob if you weren't as horrible as person as they were. Unlike with current services where you can unfriend them, and go back deleting everything you publicly posted about them making it much harder for anyone trying to cause trouble to link you together because they'd be limited to trying to find screenshots of deleted messages; with failchain the record saying you and toxic nutjob were friends will exist from now until the end of time.

Having a single shared DB will also make it much harder if not impossible to keep different circles of contacts separate, or to avoid people you no longer want to have anything to do with. ex one of Google's failed social projects that went through old gmail history and automatically friended people with their exes, abusers, stalkers, etc.

In conclusion, I would need to make a D'Oh! | of D'Oh! | 's and then pasted several copies of it one below the next to express how awful this idea would be.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?
