I used
ie = CreateObject("InternetExplorer.Application")
ie.Navigate("test.html")
ie.ExecWB(SHDocVw.OLECMDID.OLECMDID_PRINT, SHDocVw.OLECMDEXECOPT.OLECMDEXECOPT_DONTPROMPTUSER)

to print "text.html".
when the file has too many pages to print, it doesn't print all the pages..
suppose test.html has actual 20 pages to print but it only get 2 pages printed by using above code?

So I add
System.Thread.Sleep(5000) to give the time to printer to spool all and print all the pages..it helps.. but still only 5 pages printed and not all 20 pages..

how can i pause the program to wait printer to finish printing the document??

Well, basically I'm getting this error message when calling .Show() on a child form. Before anything is displayed, this exception is thrown.

Now it's in the slightly unusual situation, that the MDI window is in a VB.NET application, and all the child forms are supplied in a C# library. So I'm wondering if it's something to do with this??

Any suggestions, hints or tips?

i have a access database(oledb not sql)
i have a datetimepicker and a datagrid in my form.
i would like know picking my data from my database with the datetimepicker.
when i choose 01/05/2003 from my datetimepicker, i would like only this data should be shown.

01/05/2003 James $5.000,15
01/05/2003 Mary $7.500,01

but it gives this error

operator() '&' is not defined for types 'String' and 'Systems.Windows.Forms.DateTimePicker'

So you use VB.NET Blush | :O

that article was in VB6 , try using (+) not (&) to concatinate strings.

Can someone tell me how to compare a header from a website with a string in VB.NET. The header is in Japanese font so is the string.Do, i need to download the file or can i compare the string with the header directly. Also, if i download the page as an html then the downloaded page does not match with what is seen. Confused | :confused:

Is it because i dont have the fonts properly installed.

I see all sorts of controls out there to create PDF files. Are there any available that allow you to view PDF files from within a VB app? Also, is there one that will allow you to create thumbnails from the individual pages?

Greetings, fellow Columbus developer...

Are you talking about VB or VB.NET? Either way, the easiest way I can think of to view a PDF file is using the Internet control, or just spawning Internet Explorer to view the PDF. As long as the client has the Acrobat Reader plug-in to IE installed, they can view the PDF.

connection string

Hi i've made a connection object with ConnectionString that looks like: "Data Source= C:\...."
the problem is that when i an installation of that program it looks for the database file in the specific location that i wrote in the connection string.
how can i make the connection string so it'll turn to the database in the same directory where the app's EXE is located?

If you use VB6 use App.Path to get the EXE folder.

I am currently implementing an interface that will launch applications based on document information stored in an application I am building. I am trying to support all the popular applications (Notepad, WordPad, Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint, Project, IE, Adobe AcrobatReader, Winzip, Visio, and FrontPage).

I am using the CreateObject method to instantiate an object for a given application.

set AppObj = CreateObject("<appname>.Application")

Unfortunately, I can't find the proper application references for some of the applications I'm trying to launch. For example:

Set AppObj = CreateObject("project.application") does not work.

Additionally, I need to be able to determine the "Open" method required for each application. For example:

Set AppObject = CreateObject("Access.Application")
AppObject.Visible = True
AppObject.OpenCurrentDatabase fpath

Where can I find this information? Currently, I have the correct definitions for Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and FrontPage. The others however, are a mystery.

If I read what your doing correctly, all your are trying to do is launch an arbitrary application. In that case, all you have to do is start the application using the Shell.

But, for some reason, you are using the automation front ends for these applications. But you don't specify why that is. The flaw in your plan is not obvious, but simple. Most applications don't expose a usable automation front end; Notepad, Wordpad, and WinZip being examples.

Think about it... What is Notepad? Nothing but a TextBox control with a small interface wrapped around it. Wordpad is just an interface wrapped around a RichTextBox control.

In order to help out with this we're probably going to need a bit more information about what you are trying to do and why.

Yes, I agree with respect to the simple applications (notepad, wordpad). I just listed them all because they are all on my list of common applications used by our users.

However, with respect to MS Project and WinZip, I assumed that these Microsoft products would have some form of object model interface.

The reason I don't want to use the shell, is that there will be instances whereby I will want to control aspects of the application launch that are not readily available through a Shell call. For example, I might want to auto-populate some tagged fields in Word.

Any ideas where I can find the object interfaces for these types of applications (not the simple ones ... but Third Party and Microsoft non-office apps).

Well, Word has a COM automation interface, so that won't be too hard.

Yes, Word has what I need and it would be nice. Maybe XP and it's XML layer will solve the truly integrated office components problem; however, it is my understanding that it is still a few years away.

Put in a KeyPress handler for the edit control, and add the following code:

if (KeyAscii) = 13 then ' Enter Key<br />
 SendKeys "{TAB}"<br />
Endif<br />

This will trap the Enter key, and send a "Tab" to the form. Need to ensure that next control in the tab order is the next control youwant to go to....

Just out of interest - are you sure this is what you want to do? Not really standard windows behaviour, and precludes the use of enter as OK...
