OK, so I take it that you make possibly emotional, possibly so off-topic posts that the moderators find reasons to react.
That affects how we see the posts you make that are accepted by the moderators. They come from a poster that not only writes posts that are rejected by the moderators, but also makes complaints about it, thereby indirectly demanding his right to make unacceptable, objectionable posts.
I will take note of your signature, and consider it accordingly when I see your posts in the future.

I agree we should self-censor ourselves before making a post. Think about what we are typing before pressing 'post', knowing that there are lots of different people here from all kinds of backgrounds. This is a technical site, and potentially controversial verbiage should be avoided (unless it's about placement of braces  ). All this is to say that this 'thread locking' should not occur in the first place, let alone complaining about it later on.

Right b/c if someone posts an article about say "useless annual reviews" that discusses how the consensus's among staff is that they are useless you probably really shouldn't agree or disagree or say anything beyond "Thank you for sharing" as you could upset someone who can lock a thread if they don't agree with you. Yes it would seem obvious that you should just not post something you don't want honest feedback on but hey were hear.
I didn't realize how self-censoring the programming community had become. That might explain why we seem to have more software related problems than ever; people self-censor so if their boss tells them to do something they know is wrong or counter productive they say nothing; they self-censor. It really makes me wonder how one can even get a question answered or at least honestly. Interesting.

I think you are missunderstanding things.
In my opinion, it is totally legitime to give feedback to something and / or setting boundaries with Speak-Up (I am even holding a couple of presentations about it at a work's event soon).
The biggest problem about it is how it is done. And believe me, it is very difficult to do it right.
About this site... we had the Soapbox where it was allowed to speak about more controversial topics, but at the end it went really south and it was deleted from the site due to its toxicity. Some people that were here only for that forum started trolling / mobbing other users / areas of the site and they got banned.
If you do it respectfull and without flame wars, we are actually happy to have conversations a bit aside of programming, best if it is technology related, but still there are some good offtopic threads and some more to come.
Of course, in the moment that things go out of boundaries there will be meassures. Either by the community itself using the given tools or by the staff. And... to be honest, I like it the way it is.
Every site in the internet has some rules (more or less obvious or fair but still they are there) and this community has better clima than many, many other sites out there.
If you see these points and you agree. Stay and participate (please in a civilized mode).
If you don't, the easiest thing is to get your coat and leave the platform (please do not forget to close the door behind you).
