Doesn't really sound like this use on it's own would be enough to justify sql server to be honest. Could you not get the application form to publish an xml document which could then be attached to the email before it is sent.....would be better than typing it in.

Thanks for the suggestion. I hadn't thought of an XML document.

Hello,
Does any one know the code to write data to a text file on a web server using ASP?
Thanks very much, Rob

You can use a FileSystem Object, like this
<br />
Dim objFSO<br />
Dim objFile<br />
<br />
' Create the FSO Object<br />
Set objFSO = Server.CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")<br />
<br />
' Open a file to read<br />
Set objFil = objFSO.OpenTextFile(strFile, 1, True)<br />
something = objFil.ReadAll<br />
<br />
' Open a file to write<br />
Set objFil = objFSO.OpenTextFile(strFile, 2, True)<br />
objFil.Write "Something"<br />
<br />
' Close the file<br />
objFile.Close<br />
<br />
Set objFile = Nothing<br />
Set objFSO = Nothing<br />

Specifically for the presentation layer of the web: XHTML coupled with XSLT, MathML, CSS, InkML, VoiceXML, SMIL, XForms, and a dash of JavaScript to add some flavor. So I guess it would be XML-based rendering derivatives (except for the JavaScript :P)

I am doing a research project for my own benifit and I came across some questions.
1. What is Agent Based Communications?
2. How does it really work?
3. What are the advantages one get using agents (single or multi) over other methods?
4. From where I can get some useful links or sample projects about agents?

I have a website that i really would not like my pictures getting ripped off from...What or where could i find code that would protect these pictures from being downloaded from others

you can store images in a databse and load them using asp pages..
in the asp page check the server variable http-referer to check that the page is loaded from your site .
|
|
|
|
|
you cant
even if u javascript the right click menu away (possible) u cant stop me looking at ur pictures and screen grabbing my desktop and cutting ur image out
if u want them un-copyable dont put them on the web

True enough. But there is a method to prevent grabbing these files casually using the IE context menu. I'd be interested in learning it, too.;)

I want to give my web site credit card processing facilities. But I don't know how to do this. I've read some articles on the internet, but I don't have clear idea on the following things.
1. How to get a merchant account
2. If I'm going to use cyber cash, pay pal or verisign do I still need a merchant account
3. Let's say I've got all this. Where shall I send the client's credit card information when a client is purchasing items. Can I use some web services or do I need special software.
4. How to validate the credit card number. Are there any reliable web services.
I'll really appreciate if some one can provide me with some answers.
Thanks.

You need to choose which service you'll use. Usually their web sites tell you how to get an account. Sometimes even your site hosting company will provide CC processing for a "smallish" fee as part of your SLA, that way you don't have to get a merchant account at all, just upgrade your hosting plan! If they do offer it, your hosting company should be able to answer your questions on what you need to do to actually accomplish this if you decide to go with their plan.

Yes. Some of these services allow you to do the final order as a secure session on their hosts, where you pass tokens along to them (such as user, order #, totals, etc.) if you don't have to have SSL on your site. Or...

...they provide a forms interface to their CC processing, or you run CGI, instantiate business objects, call a web service...it really is up to the CC processor provider you choose.
UB wrote:

There are some free JavaScript CC # validators for the client side, to make sure they "hash" correctly. Otherwise, the service you choose will do validation as part of their CC processing.

If you're storing User information on your site, you should consider using SSL once the users have logged so the users information, orders, et al. are more secure.
