Hi,
I had developed a DeskBand. Now, I wish to put this DLL in download section of my website where surfer can install it from the web like Installing Yahoo! Companion. I think it can be done either using VBScript or JavaScript but need some good suggestions.

You can use the VB installer or Install shield to make a package for the web. the cab will build in the registration INF which will download and install the file.

in my program i need to enumerat all the drives shared in my network(a NT domain).Although the drive C is shared by default on a NT server,and i logged in as an administrator,
i could not find it in ::SHBrowseForFolder dialog.

HI..Need Help!
I created a edit box subclassed by CWnd, not by CEdit.
I did this for custom UI handling.
It works well.. But I need the control not to lose the
focus anytime.. Even another button contol clicked..
I tried to remove the code in CCmdTarget but it doesn't
work well...How can I do this?
Any Suggestion appreciated..

Hello!
Include a handler for WM_KILLFOCUS message in your CWnd derived class that you use for subclassing edit box. in this handler you have to call SetFocus function to gain focus back to the control.
Alternatively you can handle EN_KILLFOCUS notification in the edit box' parent window. In the handler for the notification you have to do the same - set focus back to the edit box using SetFocus() function.

Hi!
I created an ATL project and checked "Support MFC" in the ATL COM AppWizard. Then, I added some code to create a CTreeCtrl object.
I had to #include afxcmn.h to compile the project(because of the CTreeCtrl).
The problem is, I'm getting debug assertion failures inside CTreeCtrl::Create because the AfxGetInstanceHandle() returns NULL.
Should I be able to use CTreeCtrl(and other common controls) inside an ATL project?

You don't have to use "Support MFC" in an ATL-project when you want to use the TreeCtrl.
Check my website www.braem17.yucom.be (ATL - SAWEditListCtrl). It gives you an example of how you can use common controls in ATL.

Although you don't need mfc to use it... when you need an instance... try _Module.m_hInst

I bet you're doing your CTreeCtrl stuff in an exported function or COM method, right? You need to add this line at the very beginning of the function/method:
AFX_MANAGE_STATE(AfxGetStaticModuleState());
This sets up some internal data structures so all the MFC code knows where to find resources and other stuff.

I am making a form-based executable with numeric edit boxes. Is there any way to make it so the contents of an edit box are selected with a single click? I want to make it easy for people to replace the contents if they're not accustomed to tabbing or double clicking, but I don't want the contents cleared or changed unless they choose to do so.
I tried using OnSetFocus with a SetSel(0,-1) command, but it didn't do anything.

Why? By default contents of edit boxes are selected (highlighted) when first focused (try tab through the edit boxes and you will see). The problem is the mouse click actually unselects it and set the cursor to where the mouse pointer is. So if you want, you may handle the WM_LBUTTONDOWN message and skip the first occurence of this message after the editbox is initially focused.
But in general you should have a better solution to simplify the user interaction, rather than just a "one click select" versus "double click focus". Think smarter from a user perspective, not from a programmer perspective!

I generate HTML reports that can be over 100,000 lines long. I then view them in a CWebBrowser2 control. Sometimes to generate these 100,000 line reports take 20 minutes on a fast PC, so what I would like to do is to display the report as it is being generated.
No or tag will be seen until the end, and this does not seem to matter. I have tried just calling "reload" every ten second, but as the report gets bigger this does tend to slow down display a lot when reloading.
Does anyone know a way I could whatch the report being generated character by character without having to press reload please?
In other words everytime my HTML report changes I would like to see the change displayed in my CWebBrowser2 control, however I don't want to reload the entire HTML report each time such a change is detected....

Hi Jerry
Heres a different approach 
First Navigate to about:blank
then 1. Use "mshtml" to insert some dummy tags,
2.
Now as your app exports the HTML take it as a string and
use { insertAdjacentHTML (,"BeforeEnd") }
to put your HTML into the control
now automate the scroll mechananism probably { scrollto }to scroll to the bottom of the new HTML
Continue this until you get to the end.

To do that, specify WS_EX_TOOLWINDOW style for your dialog and remove WS_EX_APPWINDOW.
Note: To remove WS_EX_APPWINDOW style go to your .rc file and remove it manualy.

Hi,
I am looking at providing a view on a Access Table and have got some COM code that uses OLEDB to access this data. I need to present this data in a VB friendly form out of my COM object for application programmers (my COM object is business layer) but I don't want to simply return an OLEDB recordset.
There seem to be two options, wrap the OLEDB interface in ADO or within a less generic form geared solely around the application programmers point of view. Please can anyone give me pointers as to the pros and cons of each method.

Has anyone got any idea/samples how to programatically create a new datasource/database within either a
SQL Server or MSDE installation ? I am looking at using either ODBC or OLEDB on a project, but all the
samples that I have looked at assume an empty database has been physically created using the
administration tools.
Any ideas/articles to look at would be welcome.

I haven't seen one about, but if you can spare a couple of hours, why don't you pull out the source for CRect from the MFC header and source files, and then template it for the different types ?

I have created a custom control using the 'USER CONTROL'. I have set the style to '0x50b81000'. This creates scrollbars. I need fine control over the scroll bars and the way they look so I need to subclass them. How do I obtain a handle to these scrollbar controls? I will like to reduce the width of the horizontal scrollbar.

I am trying to get a pointer to a control in a dialog from a non-Windows class. I would like to update check boxes in a dialog from a parsing class that detects different strings and checks them off in a dialog when received. Do I get a pointer to the base class CWnd or CFrameWnd or CButton class.

either make your parsing class a member of your dialog or your dialog a member of your parsing class.
Or use FindWindow(...) from your parsing class.
