The link Gerald provides above is an excellent gateway to a vast amount of information on developing web applications hosted on IIS 5.0. I've dabbled with a few and find that, by far, classic ASP is the simplest to understand and implement. ASP.Net has far greater functionality - and I'm learning it - but you can accomplish a lot with the original without the complexity of ASP.Net. Check out www.w3schools.com[^] for some excellent tutorials.

Hi All,
I am in the process of developing a web tool in ASP that will be used to update static content on a web page. Is there any sample code/already built web tool that you know of where I can get some design and coding ideas from. Doesnt really look that hard but would prefer to see something that is actually working first. The idea i had was to probably populate the static content from the staging server onto the webtool and then update it before sending it back to the staging server. Thoughts?

Typically, most companies would use something like FrontPage to update static content to a production server. At the very least copy/paste documents would suffice for small businesses to move HTML documents from staging to a production server.
If the users must be able to update static content on the production server (like documentation) then perhaps perhaps Wiki technology would work for you. OpenWiki (www.openwiki.com) is an ASP based wiki that you could review and borrow technology ideas from or implement entirely. There are many other Wiki sites just search Google.

With the MyISAM table type in MySQL Version 3.23, the maximum table size was increased to 8 million terabytes. The maximum effective table size for MySQL databases now normally is determined by operating system constraints on file sizes, not by MySQL internal limits.

Hi,
I've got a .NET 1.1 C# client connecting to an Axis 1.1 web service. The service is sending SOAP XML as RPC/encoded and most everything deserializes correctly. The problem is with enumerations. Single enumerations deserialize just fine. Arrays with enumeration values do not deserialize correctly in the C# client. It always assigns the first enumeration value. Sadly, I wrote a Java client and it works just fine.
I used wsdl.exe to create the proxy class and everything looks fine within it. Perhaps there are additional settings to get .NET to consume an RPC/encoded web service?
As a test I created a .NET web service to return an array of enumerated values. It defaulted to Document/Literal style and the client was able to deserialize it just fine. I modified the web service to be RPC/encoded styling and again the client was able to deserialize.
The difference was how the web service generated the SOAP XML. The .NET RPC/encoded web service created its array of enumerated values like this:

I'm trying to create a small window in HTML without any toolbars, status windows, etc., only just resizable. My question is this. I need to make this window small enough to contain certain text and nothing more. How small can the smallest window be when called using JavaScript:Window.Open(...). Anyone has a better idea on how to do this? Thanks.

By following code, you can specify the size of a window so that it will open a window with the same size document area

I'm familiar with that. However, my question was how small can a web page window be? I haven't been able to make it as small as I want it to be and I'm wondering if there is a browser limit.

I do not know about the browser limit but I tried with
width=1
height=1
And with these attributes window is really small just like a thumbnail.
I tried following code:
window.open('P2070013.JPG','','width=1,height=1,scrollbars=yes')
In all the cases below, window size is large enough and of same size.
Means width=1 and height=1 generates a smallest sized window.

What browser are you using? When I tried this in IE, I got a window that was 100x100 pixels large. Note: The userinfo.gif image is the Code Project image found next to the average user's name.

I again got the same result with ur code as well but with one change.
You get the pop up but main window says page not found.

It should have been javascript:void(0), but I may have entered it wrong. However, I still get a window that is not 1x1 pixels in size. I'm running Win XP SP2 at home and Win 2K SP4 at work, both with IE and FireFox and the minimum size seems about 100x100 pixels on both machines.
I see the picture, but there's plenty of white space to the right and below it.

Most recent, patched browsers have limitations on the size and location of popup windows, for security reasons. Older unpatched browsers let you size and locate the window pretty much however you wanted.

hi, i was wondering if anyone had any ideas or knew of any resources about a how to create a drag and drop interface for assigning tasks/jobs to different people.
i know that dhtml and flash both support some level of drag drop functionality, and i need to combine this with task information being pulled out of a database.
i was broadly thinking of listing people down the left of the page, with time slots (possibly every 1/4 hour) across the top. Bars of various lengths could represent tasks, the length of the bar would relate to the length of the task.
i guess the real problem is how, if i've dragged a task onto someone else, how the new information from the target is received about the time/user and what triggers the update of this information when i "drop" the task (how the drop is detected).
Any ideas on how this could be achieved would be much appreciated.

Does anyone know the javascript to insert a line (from textbox) to the end of a select list which is populated with data from the database, at the click of a button? Then, I'll have another button to save the new select list in the database.
