Adding IE 5.0 with 128bit encryption to a Windows 2000 system can cause lockouts
Adding IE 5.0 with 128 bit encryption to a Windows 2000 system can cause lockouts. This is only an issue if you replace the standard IE 5.01 (bundled with Win2000) with IE 5.0 and the 128-bit encryption component (Ie5dom.exe) from the Microsoft Internet Explorer Administration Kit.
If you do install IE5.0 with 128 bit encryption on Win2000, then you'll get the message Error Message: System Cannot Log You on Because Domain Computername Is Not Available
. This is because the files rsaenh.dll and schannel.dll have been replaced with versions that are not compatible with Windows 2000.
To fix the problem you can either use the Recovery console, edit the registry, or (of course) reinstall Win2000.
See Microsof's KB article for more information.
