i'm trying to display monthly attendance of a student in gridview,like in the gridview along with columns one dropdown list will be there. in that list i added all the months. whenever i select a month i need that particular month attendance in the text box in that same gridview which i placed next to that drop drop . i need suggestions to do this,including db.please help me in that.

First , You have to make a Dynamic Pivot to get required out put .Before start, you must go through below mentioned articles for basic knowledge about Pivot .

Now , check this link . Here you have to pass startdate and enddate. Hence it is dynamic .
Display the attendance in datewise using pivot table
