This isn't a question where we can just give an answer - it depends to a large amount on the country you are looking at working in, and the specific field you are planning on entering.

For example, wages in the USA or Australia will be radically different from those in India, or Rwanda.
And for a games programmer, Java is probably a better idea than VB for NET would be. While for PC database based code or a website, C# and .NET are better than Java.

Look at the local country, and start working out what area you want to move into. Then start looking locally via recruitment sites to work out what wages are likely to be.
As for "which is better for the future?" we don;t have a crystal ball, we can't see the future. And we've all be surprised before when a promising contender just gets dropped, or a "new kid on the block" appears and becomes fashionable! :laugh:

And to add to this...
If OP's first step toward programing is framework/language specific it will be probably the last...That kind of thinking creates a 'fossil' of development in the first day...
