A piece of advice I was given very early in my career was, "You can never have too many strings to your bow". I would agree.

Absolutely no idea: there doesn't seem to be any real evidence either way: Will a certification really help me getting a better job? - Google Search[^] - time for you to start reading!

It might help you get an interview, as part of the weeding out process - but getting the job is about what you can do, and how well you fit into the team rather than what qualifications you might have in my experience.

Don't know about other countries, but over here in Holland Microsoft Certificates are in high demand.
Also I think having some SQL certification is always good, as a lot of companies are using SQL Server or some other SQL database.

Certificates are like Diplomas, you've completed the basics. Experience is what really matters.

A piece of advice that I remember reading from Scott Hanselman[^] of Microsoft: Get involved in Open Source projects, either start your own or help others. Blog, publish articles, etc. Build a public visible profile that you can refer potential employers to. They can then see the quality of your work. Companies like Microsoft are always watching.
