I was looking at my Google Analytics account and something weird is going on. I'm getting a lot of traffic from countries that have nothing to do with my website. I wanted to block traffic from different countries.

Hosting support said you can block IPs from different countries, does anyone know how to do this effectively? Wouldn't that affect Googlebot if I block that entire country?

Appreciate any guidance or suggestions

What I have tried:

I did some research stuff via google.

Geofencing is never a good idea. Why would you care where your visitors come from? What if one of your regular visitors from the "allowed" country is on holiday in another country, and wants to access your site? What if a visitor from the "allowed" country is using a VPN, or Tor? And what's so secret about your content that you can't allow "foreigners" to see it?

True, it might be a bad idea but I wanted to stay sage. Found some more data on how to do this here - https://hostingsingapore.co/beginners-guide-to-cpanel/
