Can any one throw a light on how to filter obscene words in sharepoint site / sharepoint discussion forum ? I searched for the articles and couldn't find any helpful links. Please let me know if any one implemented this functionality.

Thanks in advance

You could always implement an event receiver and filter the item being added to the list. What constitutes an obscene word is up to you. I would suggest using a SharePoint list of words to compare against. Of course you'll want to restrict access to the list, probably to site administrators.

Mark: In case you were not aware, the OP has raised a supplementary question, raised by your answer.
Thanks Mark for the reply, One more query as far as performace is considered, do i need to keep thr blacklisted words as a text file or a sharepoint list ?
Once again thanks for your response

The easiest way to attract the attention of someone who has answered your question is to add a comment to their answer, like I am doing here. That way they get an Email like you just have. :)

It would be easier to maintain and better performing as a list.
