I was wondering if there is any way (in vista or w7) to get and set individual application volume levels. I am trying to create a program that will tone down the volume of music playing (in itunes) proportionally to the volume of sound coming from a Pc game. If there is no way of doing this it would be handy to know because i could give up on the idea. any input welcome. thanks.

You can't do this in a seperate application. Vista and Win7 already do this on there own. All you have to do is right-click the speaker icon in the Tray and pick Open Volume Mizer. Any applications that are aware of this service already register themselves as having seperate audio volume form the system and other applications.
