displaying data in a datagrid

dear all
i have designed a form in admin view and the data is displayed in a gridview using ASP.NET and SQL. next, i want to search the data using a search button and textbox. the data must be displayed in a single row in the datagrid on clicking the search button. the data is getting displayed at first. how to add the search functionality?
please help
