Dear Friends,

We Develop financial software and we need a simple report generator to give the ability to add new reports to our users.

I need the software to have a data dictionary in order to translate the tables field name to another name to be understood by users.

Please let me know if anyone has an idea.

regards

SqlServer 2008 has support for reports.

Or you could use the consumate evil application called Crystal Reports.

+5. A great enterprise level option.
If you have Microsoft SQL Server then you can go ahead with SSRS as reporting tool. Have a general read on it here[^].

If you want to have third party software for the same then you can go for Crystal Reports[^].

SSRS is the preferred one these days based on MS product and clubbed with SQL server. If starting from afresh (which sounds like), I would recomment using SSRS for it. It has the features you need/said in the question.

It's definitely a viable solution :)
Hi,

I think you will find that DevExpress XtraReports[^] is an excellent product.

Supports WinForms, ASP.NET, Silverlight and WPF.

Royalty free runtime.
Royalty free extensible report designer.
