snmp port is not opening even if demons are running

I am developing an MIB browser in Qt using snmp++.
But why is my snmp ports(161,162) remains closed even if snmpd and snmptrapd is running????
I have installed both net-snmp and snmp++.I guess it might be the conflict between net-snmp and snmp++, but i dont know to remove them, help !!! I totally messed up this time.I like to to stick with snmp++.

Solution 1

If by "the ports remain closed" means that the sockets are not binding with the port then there could be a number of problems, possibly the one you mentioned.

but i tried with snmpB program also.still it is not opening.I am using Ubuntu ultimate 2.8 on a Vaio E machine.

can you post the code? as i think you are not binding successfully with the port
