Newbie question: I have managed to click way too many times and have the very cluttered toolbar. I uninstalled Visual Studio 2008 and reinstalled. Toolbar looks the same. Is there some file I need to change or delete to make the appearance reset back to the way it comes out of the box? Thanks!!

An alternate of Rutvik Dave:

1. Click 'Tools Menu'
2. Click Import and Export Settings...
3. Select the reset all and click Next......

It will reset all toolbars and docking windows just like a fresh installation in a fresh windows.

Just few more clicks... :-)

'Right Click' on the toolbar

Select 'Customize'

Select 'Commands' tab

Select 'Toolbar' option button

Select your toolbar from the combo box

Click 'Reset All'

This should do it.

Also all your settings files are stored in 'CurrentSettings.vsssettings' file, at following location
<br />
C:\Users\<your user="" name="">\Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Settings</your>

try removing that file, I think you reinstall the Visual Studio but the file was already there, so it read it again.
