How to put something like gadgets on desktop?

Hi,
I have an application (based on C++) that user can set his alarms on that(like Alarms on Mobiles). Now I want to put something (like gadgets on Win7) on desktop that remembers alarm to user.
Is there any Idea about that?

thanks, but it's not what I want.
I want to have a topmost dialog that only appears on desktop, exactly like gadgets.
