How to restrict user after one click event in javascript?

There is one dropdown 4 options,if i select one and click on button it generates one excel file.again if i select another option it is not generating the excel file.
For generaing i need to refresh the page then only it generates.
so tell me what is the problem with solution.

try to disable the generate button after generating the file.
