To connect the database backup file to SQL server 2008

Hello all,

I just installed the SQL Server 2008 R2 expres edition on my machine.
Am having database backfile from SQL server 2000.
Now i want to attach that datbase to the SQL server 2008.
If i follow the regular procedure of attachment of database it give me
the following error:

Failed to retrive the data for this request()
An exception occured while executing Transact-SQL or Bach.

So can anybody knows that how to solve the problem or
how do i attach my database to the Managment studio???
I am new to using SQL server please help me if you can

Try the RESTORE command.
