Most of the developer work on source view but if you can see layout in design view. But the changes in Source view. Because I don' which version are you using, in 2.0 if you are touching in design view few code automatically added by VS.

I have seen that mostly people work with source rather than drag drop. There is no harm in either of the ways until the web page design is good.

I have been developing the ASP.NET web sites since last more than 5 years. I find working with Source very easy and flexible. Working with design view is not that flexible. But there is no such rule that you should use Source or Design for developing Web Pages.

Hope this helps you.

I prefer Source View to design things. Basically I can do HTML hand coding so it's easy to me & doing the same thing by using Source View. Design view won't be easy to you for all pages(Depends....If you use complex things like hidden divs or hidden Panels or Masterpages or it contains much more controls). IMO Source View will help you to learn hand coding so go ahead with that.
