Did you by any chance use a font that exists on Win7 that doesn't exist on WinXP (or one you've installed on your Win7 box that you don't have installed on the XP box)? When a specific font can't be found, Windows automatically tries to find the next suitable font on the box.

No,i have not used any such type of font nor i installed any specific font which are available on win7 and not in winxp.
Windows 7 calendar is different form Windows XP one. The new one has an improved look and is less width.

You should either add some extra room so that calendar won't overlap in Windows XP or use some auto-sizing... so that the calendard would use required size and the grid view would take the remainding place.

In my case, I opted to display popup calendar instead...

As you said "big gap arises between the calender and the griedview"

i think it's a resolution issue. Have u checked both resolutions. keep them same and then check.
e.g. 1024x768
