Communication between ViewModels

Which way is the best for communicating between ViewModels, without using any Mvvm framework or toolkit ?
I'm currently using Event handlers and Action objects.

Any better techniques ?

It depends on the application, I would say. There is no universal predicate or relationship "Better" defined :-)
