Is there a way to set the dirty form marker at design time through code ?
In other words is there a way to notify the IDE that changes have been made to a certain control, so that as a result the star appears in the form tab ?

At design time? What do you mean by that? I don't see how it can make sense. Perhaps you can explain it in detail. "Improve question" is above.

In VB.net 2010 I have a custom control who's properties are being set through a UITypeEditor (through code). The IDE does not recognize the changes and does not put the star on the form tab. When I store the project the form is not stored and the property changes are lost. When I afterwards make other changes in the IDE the star becomes visible and my custom properties are also saved.
