I have installed Visual Studio 2010 on my system, and have read somewhere that SQL Server 2008 installs along with the same installation, so I tried installing SQL SERVER MANAGEMENT STUDIO and the installation went well without any error but the problem is that Management Studio is not showing any server.

Please help me out.

[I have gone through other sites and found that SQL Server 2008 is not compatible with Windows 7 so I have tried SQL Server 2008 R2 but the same problem persists.]

Thanking You In Advance.

Are you saying that you have installed only the sql server management studio ?

Managament studio is just a tool to connect to the database and you should have the database instance installed for the management studio to pick it up ?

I have installed Visual Studio 2010 on my system and I believe that SQL Server comes within the same installation package.

So I tried installing the SQL Server Management Studio but it shows nothing.

[And Yes I know Management Studio is a just a tools.]

As i know SQL Server doesn't come with VS 2010. You need to install SQL SERVER Or SQL Express separately.
