read about web methods also you can search for java script , Jason or j-query function that pass the ID of the new selected item and add it to your list using client side it is not hard ....

also you have another way: set the auto postback= false for your controls (radiobuttons or chechbox) then when the user finished he has to click a specific button like (Save, Done) when he click this button do a foreach loop and collect the selected IDs and then save them in your DB. regards
