This is driving me crazy.

VS2010 complains that .net 4 is not installed and gives you a dialog "do you want to convert to .net 4 project" every time you open a solution for every project loaded , and you don't see .net 4 in the "Target Platform" of the project file.

I have installed the .net 4 targeting patch, but still it continues.

Specify the OS. is it XP or Vista or Windows 7 ....

Problem seems to be with installing VS2010 SP1 (at least in my case).

Work around :

1) Uninstall VS2010 completely.
1-1) Uninstall VS2012 also if installed (Express Web in my case).
2) Remove All VS related installs also (SQLCE, ASP MVC, etc.)
3) Reinstall VS2010.
