what do you use? Java with Swing? or JFace? any framework involved that might offer some functionality?

I did. It had mixed result of java + javascript menu-compbox.

A more specific question would have given more keywords to look for! :)

The results in the Google search are complete crap. NONE of them is showing what the Questioner is asking for.
It's all about JS, Comboboxes and stuff like that. Really helpful.
