I have installed sql server 2005.  While conecting the sql server to my program written in C#, I'm not seeing my SQL Server name in the choose data source option.  It only shows names like Microsoft Access Database File and Microsoft SQL Server Database File.  The problem I'm facing is my SQL Server instance is not listed in a list of data source names, but I can create a database in sql server management studio express...plz help

First, why did you post this twice ? Second, it looks like whatever you've done ( and you don't tell us at all ), it's listing the types of data source, not available ones, or it's listing them in a way that means you need to create an ODBC source for your specific DB.  We can't tell you much more based on the lack of info provided.  Posting twice will not change that.

It's not like we can see your desktop from here.....

You should include in your question:

Where is SQL server installed ?

You meant SQL Server 2005 Express ?  (Must be hmm ?)

You using Visual Studio (X) ? Server Explorer ?

Did you closely read the readme file ? (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/910229)

Look for "3.1 Service Account and Network Protocols"

Cheers.
