how to get the remaining disk space in hosting account

Hello There,
 
I am really new to PHP, I am developing an application where I need this small option which is like from the application end the administrator of the application will be able to see how much of the hosting disk space is remaining? As this is a content uploading website So he really needs it. The Hosting Server is Apache/Linux, and the web application is being developed by PHP. I searched google a lot but I can not find any proper solution for this.
 
Can anyone help with this?

Well, I dont know any specific function to do so. But I believe you know your limit. what you can do is calculate your current size and compare

Thank you, I also thought that as well, looks like I have to now search for the files siZe recognition function in PHP.
