How to use a different map than Google?

I want to write an application that will use different maps, not only Google maps, but I don't know how to start.
I checked:

I am using android 2.2 or higher, but these links above seem to refer to older maps and versions of android.
Or how to put this to work in android:
http://www.openstreetmap.org/export/embed.html?bbox=11.44,47.47,29.3,55.8&layer=mapnik[^]
Please concrete answers or some tips for this :D
