It's difficult to solve browser compatibility problems entirely. Its ongoing process. As we know there are lot of browsers avaliable in the market + tabs also.
To reduce these problems certainly you can use JQuery but this is not the ultimate solution.

Honestly speaking, nothing guarantees. People hit their head hard to solve these kind of problems. But use Jquery, follow css and Html standards, certainly you can minimize these problems.
