Wow! Is FoxPro is still alive? I'm shocked.

Don't be shocked that FoxPro is still around, it's not. Be shocked that there is someone still using it.

Exactly.
My former roommate, archaeologist, once gave me the neolithic-time stone scraper to try out. So I wasn't shocked that such tools are still around — they are, but I suspect that the hardwood floor in our dormitory was crafted without using them.

There is no way to tell what happened. The only speculation I have is that the user didn't have appropriate NTFS permissions to write the database file to disk (meaning updates couldn't be written), or the file was tagged ReadOnly in the file properties.

Since you're reformatted your machine you destroyed all evidence so it's now impossible to figure out what happened.
