Solution 1

Yes, you may do it.
You may use whatever set of symbols you like, ~~provided the set is ordered (you may also arbitrarily give the order)~~.
You may find a lot of articles on Sudoku, here at CodeProject[^].

Why does it need to be ordered? Sudoko doesn't rely on ordering, just on a set of different symbols.

Sorry, it looks you are right (I never played Sudoku, I supposed the digits should sum up ).
