See more:
$total_hour = 0;
   $overtime = 0;

   if ($total_hour === 9 ) {
       $overtime = $net;
   }

so me and my friends have this payroll system and we need to count the overtime hours worked and add that to the netpay. The idea is the minimum work hours in our system is 8 anything beyond will trigger the overtime and add the rate($$$).

The problem is:

1. We do not know the functions or query to count the excess hours.

2. Our system works in real-time meaning our employees need to sign_in and sign_out to record their schedule(whether their on-time or late) so is it possible to count the excess hours if the system works in real-time?

were still php noobies so any ideas and suggestion will be much appreciated thanks :D

What I have tried:

were unsure on how to do it so the code given here is just an example or idea

For each employee you need to capture the number of hours worked. if the number is greater than 8 then the calculation is simple:
Overtime_pay = (hours - 8) * overtime_rate;

While we are more than willing to help those that are stuck, that doesn't mean that we are here to do it all for you! We can't do all the work, you are either getting paid for this, or it's part of your grades and it wouldn't be at all fair for us to do it all for you.

So we need you to do the work, and we will help you when you get stuck. That doesn't mean we will give you a step by step solution you can hand in!
Start by explaining where you are at the moment, and what the next step in the process is. Then tell us what you have tried to get that next step working, and what happened when you did.
