Optimizing Data Manipulation in ASP.NET Application

I must say this forum is really getting me so thrilled that i am beginning to love it more. i have a large ASP.NET Application at hand but i am considering performance and speed juice. Which one is advisable to use ADO.NET or EF. Because it is a team project and for maintenance purpose, any link that explain in details how to work with data in ASP.NET and the objectives of performance and speed will still be boosted
