i fail at creating jar files (cmd problem)

so i got my program (an applet) all finished and everything, and i went into cmd to turn it into a jar file. i browsed to its location (in cmd) and i typed the command "jar cvf ThisOne.jar ThisOne.class" and the cmd responded with "'jar' is not recognized... ". my father thinks my cmd is messed up because of my raid array set up but idk... what do u guys think?
