How to prevent popup div window from closing on pressing Escape button

I am using existing div as a popup to enter a user details like name, address etc. from user. but when i press escape button it suddenly close that popup windows without checking whether or not that textbox inside popup div is filled or not..

i want such that.. user should get alert message on pressing escape key if he / she has left any text box blank.
