video compression in c# using ffmpeg on the fly

can any body please tell me is it possible to compress online streaming videos on the fly on a server using ffmpeg and c#, i have done ffmpeg c# compression in offline mode, but i am really curious to know if compression in c# using ffmpeg can be done on the fly i.e., compressing videos from youtube while we are watching it, if any one knows about this please can you send me some links which are usefull
