How to code chat screen in asp.net with showing online users also?

i m doimg my project work on chat server and i hv already achevied the mail sending coding but unable to code online chating properly.
i am successfull in acheveing in showing online user bt tht time msg box is not working and for showing msg box in online chating i hv utilized refersh screen bt then online user list get also refreshed and showing only tht current user in online user list.:confused:
