Well, I know about GoDaddy, VeriSign etc. Which are issueing those certificates.
But which one offers the best price/performance?
I need it for a website where I need to transmit cell phone numbers and addresses securely.
Suggestions and own experiences are welcome.

Thanks in advance!

I don't think we can promote any of the commercial entities. You should do the shopping and make your own decision. First of all, learn the subject well. Please start here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Certificate_authority[^].

Thank you for your answer, even though it is not as specific as I hoped.
