need guidence about developing mobile application

Hello! any body on this forum kindly help...

I have installed Windows 7. i want to develop a project 'Smartphone FTP Client'. The main features of this application
would be:
- Login to FTP Server
- Show folder/files structure after login
- Upload/Download a file from/to SD Card (or Internal Storage)
- Show progress (percentage) while a file is being uploaded

Please tell me what Visual Studio version I should install, and also what
target OS would be best for this project (Windows Mobile 6.x, 7.x or 8.x)

Solution 1

I would go with Visual Studio 2010 Express for Windows Phone. You can download it here:
http://www.microsoft.com/visualstudio/eng/downloads[^]

Also, I would recommend wp7.1 because it will also be compatible with later versions up to wp8. Forget about 6, I literally threw my phone away because I couldn't bare selling it to anyone else and pass on the misery it gave... wp7 is, although a little late in the market, the first real usable windows phone.
