Hi, I am very new in programming... I would like to ask if someone could write a basic sample code in using the PC parallel port to received external signals and let the PC perform a certain task (eg. Playing a sound, opening a file, etc.) with the Visual Basic.

Thanks!

VB6? You must be joking. You can find a lot of C++ material. Then you can export methods from C++ DLL and use in VB6, but... any particular reasons for tormenting yourself with VB6?

You could go to a site like www.vworker.com and hire someone to write code for you.

Please see my comment to the question. In particular, you can find a lot here: http://www.codeproject.com/search.aspx?q=parallel+port+%28VB6+OR+C%2b%2b%29+-Python&doctypeid=1[^].

Even "parallel port V6" query gave 5 answers (in contrast to 74 above): http://www.codeproject.com/search.aspx?q=parallel+port+VB6&doctypeid=1[^] :-).

Good luck,
