Determing requesting computer's configuration

Hello,
I'm a decent c# programmer, but an absolute novice when it comes to web programming. Can anyone help me with the following? I want to download software to a requesting user, but only to users with a certain configuration. Specifically, I want to download to a user with a desktop or laptop (no tablets or smartphones) using an operating system of Windows XP or newer (no Apple). If they don't have the proper setup, it's a no go. (I'm using ASP.Net visual studio 2005) Thanks.

Well..Your idea is not digestible to me.. A user like me will download the software on a tablet while in travel and then install on the home computer on return

Do you mean like this[^]?

Otherwise the best you can hope for is to figure out screen size and use that to determine the type of device the client is using. See this[^].

Thanks for the effort, Mark, but based upon other downloading experiences I've had, I believe all the information can be retrieved without much effort. I just don't know the where and how of getting it.- Kevin

(By the way, I should've used the word upload in my question- sorry.)
