status bar vanishes but process is getting executed on rendering a menu control asp.net c#

hi,
i am developing a web application, where in there are different reports and processes which takes a long time to process.

i click on a menu for executing process or fetching a report. status bar shows the status of the executing process in Internet explorer.

now when the process is going on and when i move or render the menu control, the status bar disappears and user thinks the process is complete, but actually the process is getting executed and after some time it show the successful or desired prompt.

is there a bug in IE or something else

the point is why status bar disappears on rendering menu control while the process is going on?
