Recover ldf file from Sql server

When am taking DB backup,i got below error.Can any one know if ldf file loss means how to recover.

Msg 3013, Level 16, State 1, Line 1BACKUP DATABASE is terminating abnormally.

Msg 9001, Level 21, State 1, Line 1The log for database 'TEST_DB' is not available.

Check the event log for related error messages.

Resolve any errors and restart the database.

What was the recovery strategy of your database?

We are not using any strategy

Well, there is nothing like no strategy in sql server. You have to choose from one of these: simple, full, bulk. Which one do you have?

Apparently you need the log file.
