Archive creation in Data Storage software with ASP.NET

Hi everyone!!
I am making a data storage facility for an institute of a friend of mine to store the details of the students applying for courses in ASP.Net and MySQL. I'm new on this platform. Everything is fine, but I have to archive data on a button click. The archived data might contain attached files, or might be simply stored text. Can anyone give me any idea as to how to upload file from one location to another and also store both the old and new paths of storage location of the data for future use, that is if anyone wants to restore the data back to the former location?

I thank you all in advance!! Even if you can help me get the links where I can find description on similar topics it'd be great for me!! :)

Solution 1

Well for now I found a temporary solution to it. M just storing the old data from table whole into another data, emptying the table, and re entering the data in the old database from the point from which user stopped archiving... but its tedious!!!
